At Studeous, we don’t separate how things look and function into separate categories, we develop our products and features the same way users use them – holistically. We scrutinize over every detail to make sure that that’s the perfect place to put something or the exact way that feature should function.

Here’s a quick example. If you’ve ever used another e-learning system, it probably had a tabbed navigation inside each class. This means that if you have to go to all 6 tabs and you are in 6 classes, that is 36 pages you have to visit to gather all your data. Instead, we do our best to put as much relevant information on your home page as possible, and for classes we put everything on a single page.

Tabs are also a leading cause of the under-use of features. After much research and many surveys, we discovered that most teachers using other e-learning systems used only a single feature – uploading files. Even though the other features are there, they rarely get used.

For example the discussion board on Studeous appears at the top of the class page. This way, whenever a student visits a class page they will see the most recent discussions. When discussions are on a separate discussions tab, they are by default less useful because fewer students see the discussions and thus fewer students partake in the discussion.

Some web sites have it, others don’t. We know that whatever e-learning system you choose, you’re going to be looking at it, a lot. So we make sure that the site is always visually appealing and a pleasure to work with.

We listen to feedback. We regularly have requests from teachers for features which we fulfill that week, sometimes even by the next day.
