About Us History of Studeous
Studeous is the first Learning Management System (LMS) that allows teachers to sign up for free on their own, allows administrators control over their school, and is hosted and maintained online. Studeous is a revolutionary product that is changing the way teachers and students across the world are communicating, teaching, and learning.
How Studeous Began
Vic Ramon, a co-founder of Studeous, had used Learning Management Systems throughout most of his academic career. He found that each system was too hard to navigate, too complex, and too confusing. So, he set out to create his own. After he created a basic prototype, he presented it to a trusted peer, Jeff Stein. Jeff immediately saw how useful a system like this could be to teachers and students alike. The two began work on a beta version and Studeous was born. After many months of reaserch and development, Studeous launched in private beta on March 19, 2008. Since then, Studeous has grown at an incredible rate and is being used in schools throughout the world.
A Game Changer
Studeous takes new technology and makes it accessible and applicable to the educational environment.
Improving Technology, Commodifying E-Learning
Currently, teachers and administrators would agree that many Learning Management Systems are behind the technology curve. These systems, though often poorly designed, are somehow extremely over-priced. Studeous presents an innovative solution at a fraction of the cost. At the same time, we are improving and commodifying e-learning technology.
Changing the Business Process
Schools traditionally put the administration in charge of buying an LMS. School administrators talk to administrators at other schools about what they bought and often follow the crowd. The problem is that none of these administrators will be using the system that they are buying for its core function--teaching. The teachers will be, but the teachers are often left out of the purchasing process and are usually stuck with an unfamiliar system that is confusing and difficult to use.

At Studeous, we take an entirely different aproach. We put the teachers first. Studeous is different in three key ways:
  1. It is simple and easy enough for the average teacher to use without training
  2. It allows teachers to sign up for free on their own
  3. It enables administrators to have control over their school network
We have essentially created a web-based LMS that requires no training, no sales force, and minimal marketing--allowing us to put up to 100% of sales revenue back into the product itself, unlike the other enterprise e-learning companies. This allows us to continue to make Studeous better and better. Which is great for the teachers, administrators, and students of Studeous.
