Sitting a test
- Do I have to finish a test in one sitting?
- Each section must be completed in one sitting, because its timer does not pause. You can stop between sections and come back — the sections you have finished stay scored and the ones you have not are still waiting.
- What happens if my connection drops mid-test?
- Your answers are saved as you give them, not when you submit. If the connection drops, everything already answered stays answered, and you resume at the question you left with the section timer where it was.
- What happens when the timer runs out?
- The section submits itself with everything recorded up to that instant. Running out of time never discards work you had already done.
- Can I take a test on my phone?
- Yes. The full test works on a small screen: passages and questions stack rather than shrink, and the question navigator collapses without hiding which questions you have answered or flagged.
- Can I go back to a question I skipped?
- Within the same section, yes — flag it and it stays marked in the navigator until you return. Once a section is submitted it is closed, the same as on the real exam.
Scores and results
- Why is my score shown as a range?
- Because that is what a test score can honestly support. Every score carries a standard error of measurement — roughly 40 points on an SAT composite — so one practice test places you inside a band rather than on a point. Completing more full sections narrows the band.
- How accurate is a practice score?
- It is a good estimate of your current ability under test conditions, and a poor predictor of one specific future sitting. Treat the band as where you are now, not as a forecast of the day itself.
- When do I see the explanations?
- After a section is scored. They are withheld during the test for the obvious reason, and released in full afterwards — including why the attractive wrong option attracts.
- Can I retake a test I have already sat?
- Yes. A retake is stored as a separate attempt, and a form you have already seen is marked as such, because a second score on the same form measures familiarity with that form as much as ability.
Access and orders
- How long does question bank access last?
- 120 days from purchase. Renewing before it expires adds the new days to the days you have left rather than replacing them.
- Do practice test packages expire?
- No. A test you have bought stays available until you sit it.
- I paid but my access has not opened.
- Access opens when the payment settles, which is usually immediate but can take a few minutes. If it has been longer than that, email us from the address you paid with and we will open it manually.
- Can I get a refund?
- Yes, within 14 days of purchase, provided you have not started a paid practice test or opened the question bank. We refund to the original payment method.
- I already have an account on another TestPrep site.
- Use it. Accounts are shared across our sites, so you can sign in here with the same email and password. Purchases are not shared: what you buy on Studeous is available on Studeous.
